NEW BERKEY WARRANTY SITE OPENS UP
This is the Manufacturer direction on Warranty which was sent to all authorized Berkey Dealers.
In an effort to provide the best quality service to Berkey® consumers everywhere, NMCL requires all Warranty Claim request forms be submitted directly by the purchaser (retail consumer). Authorized Berkey® Dealers are not permitted to submit Warranty Claim request forms on behalf of their customers.** Any form submitted by a dealer on behalf of a customer will be automatically denied.
Why the change?
Our Support Specialists are highly trained to diagnose and resolve even the most elusive problems experienced with Berkey® product. Adding a third party (seller) to the replacement process causes confusion for all persons involved. By allowing us to speak to the customer directly, we get questions answered faster, allowing for a smoother replacement process for the customer. We know how important it is for you to build relationships with your customers. Please feel free to educate your customers about Berkey® products or discuss their recent experiences with the product with them*. However, when it comes to replacing the product per NMCL Limited Warranty, please refer your customers to the Warranty Claim section on www.berkebynmcl.com/support *Support Specialists may require customers to complete various tests or troubleshooting steps. The steps or tests will need to be completed a second time, even if you have asked the customer to perform them already. This is to ensure the customer has performed the steps according to NMCL's standards and for documentation purposes.
QUESTIONS & ANSWERSAsk a Question
Does it remove fluoride?
Hello - the PF2 fluoride filters can be added to the system to accomplish that.
How often do you have to replace the filters? Cost of filters?
Hi there - The BB9 black Berkey filters will deliver up to 6000 gallons of water per pair of filters used. So for a family of 3 using 3 gallons/day, the filters should be replaced every 2000 days or about 5 years. The pair of Berkey filters cost $107 per pair. Hope this helps!
We need to transport our berkey. Do we need to do anything special?
To transport the Berkey water filter system: I would remove the spigot and bag it. Then remove the filters and let them dry at least over night. Just stand then up in the dish stand and let them drain. If you are going to have the Berkey filter system in transit for a few days then you should let the filters drain until dry. Then store them in a large ziploc bag. Flip the top chamber over and place it in the lower chamber. Now you can pack the pieces for transport.
Hope this helps!
How often do I change out the filters? When I first purchase the filter for $258 does that come within 2 filters already? Do you offer military discounts?
We offer 3 types of Big Berkeys with pricing and performance to suit every need:
**Big Berkey Ceramic is equipped with 2 Super Stearasyl Ceramic Filters - these are the time tested world standard for gravity filters. These should be changed every 1000 gallons (per pair of installed filters) or annually whichever occurs first.
**Big Berkey Carbon is equipped with 2 BB9 Black Berkey Filters - these are the filters Berkey became known for and should be changed every 6000 gallons or 3000 refills (per pair of installed filters).
**Big Berkey Earth is equipped with Berkey's newest and most cost effective filters. Made of diatomacsous earth with granulated active charcoal, these Berkey filters are the best performing water filtration units. The filters should be changed out every 6000 gallons (per pair of installed filters) or 3 years whichever occurs first.
Does it filter floride?
That's a great question! The PF-2 fluoride filters should be used with the BB9 black Berkey filters to filter fluoride. If purchasing a Berkey filter with Ceramic or the New Premium Berkey Earth Diatomaceous Filters, then the PF-4 filters should be added to remove filter fluoride.
Does it filter out chlorine from town water?
That's a great question! This Big Berkey Water Filter has been tested to remove over 99.9% of chlorine and chloramines from town water sources. Hope this helps and have an amazing day!
How long does it take to filter water
That's a great question! The Big Berkey with 2 BB9 black filters should fill in 2-4 hours, on average a little over 3 hours. The actual time depends on variations in the manufacture of each filter, the local water condition and also how well the filters were prepped and primed. Many people fill up at night so they wake up to a full tank.
Hope this is helpful. Have an amazing day!
